Located in the heart of Bexhill on Sea, along the serene, tree-lined Warwick Road, Hazelmere Nursing Home is the perfect location to experience the exemplary care provided by our outstanding nursing team.

As a small home, catering to a maximum of 20 residents, our friendly team works hard to get to know you to provide a truly bespoke care experience you can trust.

We believe in high staff-to-resident ratios which allows us to give you as much care and attention as you need whilst also respecting your independence, privacy, and dignity.

Our ethos is to go the extra mile for our residents, whatever the request, we will do our best to deliver.

Exercise, excursions and experiences

It’s essential that residents enjoy a rich and varied lifestyle. To this end, Hazelmere provides a stimulating and engaging programme of group and individual activities - both inside and outside the home. In-house activities include appropriate levels of gentle exercise, arts and crafts, and pastimes such as flower arranging. With our own minibus and driver, we are also able to take advantage of the riches the local area has to offer. From sightseeing trips to New Forest beauty spots to fish and chips by the sea; from trips to local shops, cafés and pubs to churches and events, residents are able to experience the very best of their environs.

What has been your greatest achievement at Hazelmere Nursing Home?

I wouldn’t say there is one specific achievement but more a collection of lots of achievements! The main one has to be developing our fantastic team of staff who I see making a real change to the lives of our residents on a daily basis. It was also great when we refurbished the whole home and made its appearance match the standard of care! Being involved with the local community has been great fun including our many visits from the local Mayor. This all culminated in us taking over Orchard House Care Home, our sister care home in Bexhill which is specialised in caring for people with dementia.

What next at Hazelmere Nursing Home?

We are just about to open our new wing of five fabulous ensuite rooms as well as living areas all designed with luxury, style and practicality in mind. We will also have a sensory courtyard for all our residents to enjoy as well as newly landscaped gardens to the rear of the building. This has been the culmination of 3 years of working with East Sussex County Council, our architects TJDA and main development contractor Red Key Concepts to deliver these much-needed nursing beds to the local community. I am extremely proud of what we have managed to achieve and look forward to welcoming new residents in the near future.

With two elegant lounges and a bright and airy dining room, there’s plenty of opportunity to socialise and enjoy good company at Hazelmere. Using fresh ingredients - locally sourced whenever possible - the kitchen team prepare and proudly serve delicious, wholesome cuisine. Dietary requirements are rigorously observed and nutrition plans meticulously designed to meet each resident’s individual needs.

Great care in a gracious setting

Our rooms have been designed to make the very most of the original period architecture - some opening out via French doors onto lawn areas, others with full height sash windows offering splendid views across the well-tended gardens. All bedrooms are neutrally decorated and tastefully furnished, with wall-mounted TVs and profiling beds. Alternatively, residents are welcome to bring their own furniture, pictures and personal effects for added familiarity and more of a “home from home” experience.

Flexible, person-centred care

Completed in collaboration with the resident and their family, a person-centred care plan is established upon admission. Based on ongoing monitoring, this plan is adapted as needs evolve over time, ensuring that all services and care provided remain fully appropriate. Daily housekeeping and laundry are provided, and visiting services provide regular access to chiropody, physiotherapy, and hairdressing, in addition to dental and optical care.

Rated 9.9 out of 10 on carehome.co.uk and “Good” at our latest CQC inspection, Hazelmere also enjoys a consistently excellent and longstanding local reputation.
